LANDMARK UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT INAUGURATES PRE-DEGREE PROGRAMME PLANNING COMMITTEE
In furtherance to the expansion of Academic base of LMU, the Management on Thursday 22nd January, 2015 inaugurated a Pre-Degree Programme Planning and Implementation Committee.
The Registrar, Dr. D. A. Rotimi, while intimating the gathering on the objective of the meeting stated that the purpose for setting up the committee was to help the University achieve her desire of running an effective Pre-Degree Programme.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. J.O. Afolayan, while charging the committee stated that the programme was aimed at building capacity in the intended students, who though have the pre-requisite 5 credits in relevant subjects to study their choice course but could not gain admission due to stiff competition involved in the Universities admission process. These Pre-Degree students would gain automatic admission into the University in each Academic Session once they pass the University internal examination after their programme and are able to score JAMB minimum score for the year. He emphasized that the programme is not IGR oriented but to help prepare students and ensure they are exposed to the basics of University education, especially as it relates to our context. This, he stressed will also ensure that the right students are admitted into the system.
The Seven Member Committee headed by Prof. (Mrs.) Charity Aremu was charged with the responsibilities of setting up and running a Pre-Degree Programme in the University, also included in their terms of reference was to propose a module to facilitate effective take off of the programme, propose suitable budget for the take-off, embark on massive advertisement, formulate viable admission criteria, and bring up a calendar for the take-off of the programme.
Members of the committee include Dr. M. O. Aduloju, Dr. O.O. Osemwegie, Dr. B.T. Adesina, Dr. J. O. Ojediran, Dr. A. J. Falaye, Dr. A. Nwozor, and Mr. S. Dare.
