COREN ACCREDITS LANDMARK UNIVERSITY ENGINEERING PROGRAMMES
The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) has approved the accreditation of Engineering programmes of Landmark University after a successful evaluation of its services and operations in an exercise held from 19th to 23rd October, 2014. Accreditation, a process where educational programmes or institutions are reviewed to determine if they meet certain standards of quality, is not held a trifle in any great institution of learning such as Landmark University, which is committed to the precept of professionalism and pragmatism in revolutionizing Agriculture with a view to solving mankind challenges, chief among which is food insecurity.
In its quest to ascertain up-to-date status of the Engineering facilities required to prosecute among others, the envisioned Agricultural Revolution, a renowned professional quality assurance body – COREN, led by Engr. Professor J.O. Olajide inspected University Engineering Programmes and facilities whose ultramodern compositions and operations amazed the visiting team, giving the University proprietors groundswell commendations. It became apparent in the course of the assessment that the content, teaching resources and research output of College of Engineering are of consistently high quality to meet competency expectations of the present and future professionals in the related fields.
In a letter dated 15th December 2014 and signed by its Registrar, Engr. W. Kamila Maliki, COREN conveyed to the University through the office of the Vice Chancellor the good news of the accreditation of all the five programmes presented for the exercise, which include Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Elect/Information Engineering and Agricultural Engineering. To this end, the University has earned additional reputation of meeting and sustaining the quality standards established by the Engineering profession for which the programmes prepare their students.
A cross-section of faculty and students in the College of Science and Engineering expressed happiness not only at the success of accreditation visitation last year, but also the recent news of the approval of the programmes, whose standards they indicated avowed commitment to maintain and even improve upon.
