LANDMARK UNIVERSITY HOLDS FIRST FACULTY FELLOWSHIP AMID JOY, SHARES TESTIMONIES OF GOD’S FAITHFULNESS
In preparation for the commencement of 2014/2015 academic session, Landmark University holds its first faculty fellowship at the Conference Room of the new College Building on Friday, 12 September, 2014, sensitizing members on the resumption approach and praying God for exceeding grace to sail through the new session. The last session witnessed seamless academic calendar, impressive webometric ranking and maiden convocation ceremony which have earned the university esteemed position and elicited accolade from all over. On this basis the university community converged to appreciate the God Almighty who actually made the session brim with success story and exciting news.
Speaking on research focus of the university at the assembly, the Registrar, Dr. John Izebere, informed the fellowship of the plan to feature in the subsequent meetings presentation series of research findings on the local issues by the young academics to ignite their interest in proffering the needed solutions to the internal or indigenous problems. Also, the University Public Lecture exclusively designed for the Professors is billed to continue this session, beaming light on the agrarian revolution of the institution.
In the Ag Vice-Chancellor’s remarks, Professor J.O. Afolayan addressed the faculty on the crucial role of unity in running university affairs. From the depth of the scriptures, Professor J.O. Afolayan expatiated the significance of unity under the headings - the basis, blueprint and blessedness of unity. He encouraged all to approach the fifth academic session with one spirit in conformity to the gospel for the manifestation of the desired extraordinary result.
Similarly, the Pro-Chancellor, Pastor Yemi Nathaniel, charged faculty members after reflecting on the university’s glossy achievements last session, to deepen themselves in the university core brand – Spirituality – through which they could gainfully access the requisite knowledge and breakthrough in their respective fields, corroborating this with copious examples of Christian inventors in the world. He submitted that by deepening relationship with God one has nothing to lose but everything to gain.
Emphasizing the commitment of the Commission to raising excellent leaders, Pastor Yemi Nathaniel announced names of the new appointees to some offices and charged them to appreciate the appointment by viewing leadership position as a privilege with awesome responsibility which must be carried out religiously. Fervent prayers of members for the appointees and the university concluded the programme on a cheerful note.
